Egg Thieves

From a recent post on FB: To my neighbours... Just an FYI, in case you find some random wooden eggs in your yard. The ravens stole them and are now disappointed. We were trying to use wooden eggs to trick our Muscovy ducks into laying eggs in convenient places in their enclosure, instead of under the deck. Apparently they had been laying there, and the ravens were sneaking in and stealing them. I hope this doesn't bring generations of Corvid retribution upon me, haha.

Saturday morning visit to GIRO

Saturday mornings on Gabriola typically start with a visit to GIRO (Gabriola Island Recycling Organization), a popular local spot where people often go every week, sometimes even lining up before the doors open to be sure to find a great treasure or at least a good deal. GIRO is only open on Wednesdays and Saturdays. First I dropped off my glass bottles for recycling, then paid $20 for them to take my bbq, which was damaged when a tree fell on it. Around the corner to dropoffs, I was able donate some kitchen things, a bag of clothing, and set of stacking tables. The place was hopping - I found a couple of things I was looking for and had to stand in line to pay. Clearly business is booming as they recently had to add a second cashier.
